6 Months!

Today my little boy is 6 months old!

He had his 6 month check up bright and early this morning. He now weighs 18 pounds 15 ounces and is 25 1/2 inches long!

He loved messing with the paper on the table.

He got 3 shots today :( I hate hearing him cry so hard. It was time for him to eat so right after his shots he had a bottle and it calmed him down and he fell asleep in the car.

After that we went to breakfast. Normally he is fussy most of the day after shots but he was such a happy baby today. He laughed and smiled the rest of the day! Thank god!

We then went to Whole Foods. I freaking LOVE that place! Since I've been eating healthy this last month it's just so easy to go in there and find stuff. And our Whole Foods is in a fancier part of town so it's on the cutest street where there's other cute shops and restaurants. You actually have to park in a parking garage.

Before we went in Whole Foods there's a store linked to them that is called Whole Body. I have never seen one in any other city I've been in but they have the coolest stuff. They have tons of stuff for your body that is all natural like soaps, pills, deodorants, bath salts, shampoos. You name it!

This is what I got...
The top left looks like sweet potatoes but it's not lol It's a yummy smelling body scrub. They have all of the scrubs in salts in containers and you get how ever much you want and weigh it. Love it! The yellow one is a bath soak. And then the bottom two are soaps. The pink is like grapefruit something. I forget but it smells yummy and then tan one is almond. I planning on using the soaps for when I make my own laundry soap. You grate the soaps and you add it with a bunch of other stuff.
 More on that later!

We walked down to Anthropologie and there was a little store that had side walk chalk outside so I just had to...

Then we went to Whole Foods. Shopped and had lunch there. I swear it's the coolest store ever.

After that we went to Blake's dads. Where little man thought he was a big boy...
His hair is blonde! Crazy since it was super dark when he was born.

After that we went home where he played and napped and is now asleep. So needless to say we didn't get his 6 month picture done today but I will def do it in the morning!

He's getting so big it's crazy!

Corn Salad

Last week we went to dinner at a local restaurant/bar called the Corner Pub.

My mom order catfish and one of her sides was corn salad. It looked interesting but I tasted it and loved it. It looked simple enough to make on my own.

then...

I checked my favorite food blog skinny taste today and they just so happened to post this same recipe recently. Not to mention on my lunch break I bought 3 ears of corn. It was meant to be!

Instead of making corn on the cob like I planned I made Corn salad.

I used a variation of both recipes and this is what I came up with...

3 ears of corn, raw and cut off the cob
1/2 of a red onion, diced
1 fresh jalapeno, diced (no seeds)
1/2 of a tomato, diced
1 scallion, diced
1/2 cup part skim mozzarella cheese
dash of salt
dash of pepper
dash of garlic powder
4 tbsp light mayo
3 tbsp greek yogurt

You can also add cilantro

Mix all of the vegetables and cheese together and then add the light mayo and greek yogurt.

End result

You could serve it cold or warm and you could also add anything you want like cream cheese instead of the mayo and yogurt.

Since I'm counting calories I figured it up and it's approx. 115 calories per serving (1/2 cup). And makes about 6 servings.

Enjoy!

Big boy bed time!

I finally finished cleaning out Levi's dresser. I was super sad to see that he never even wore half of the stuff and a lot of it was so cute! :(

Here's what is getting passed on to a friend...
I must have gotten excited while prego and did just a little to much shopping!

Now he has plenty of room for his big boy clothes as I call them.

This picture is awful but we went to dinner tonight. He LOVES sitting up like a big boy so he can look at everything.

And then he got a bath which he loves! I'm pretty sure he could sit in the tub all night if I let him.
His new trick is to stick his foot up to let the water hit it lol

Extra close up but you can see his pretty eyes and lashes he gets from his daddy :)

All ready for bed.
He looks so big in this picture!

Ever since the day we brought him home he has always slept in his rock and play sleeper. It just seemed to be more comfortable for him and I felt more comfortable with it because it sits him up at an angle in case he spit up. But now that he's getting so big tonight we're putting him in his crib. Sad face!

Moving on up...

Levi went shopping with Mommy today! Not like it's different from any other day but...he's growing out of his 3-6 month clothes :(  He's going into the 6 month and 6-9 month stuff :( He's growing to fast!

Tonight I'm cleaning out his dresser and giving the stuff that is to small to a friend that is having a little boy in a few months. It'll be the first time I've given any of his clothes away. Kinda sad. I am saving some of the things that he wore a lot when he was a newborn until now and making a book out of them that I found on pinterest. I'll post it when I get it finished!

He's getting so big!

Vote for Levi!

I've always thought it was annoying when people posted Vote For Me stuff on Facebook but I turned into that mom!

I entered Levi into a Disney Baby contest and today is the last day to vote! It's for fan favorite. Not sure if he's even close to winning but it's worth a shot!

Thanks!

My Birthday!

Today is my 27th Birthday! I opened some presents this morning, had lunch with my dad, went shopping and just got home from dinner. My poor diet went to crap today!

This is what Levi made me! I love it! I actually pinned something similar to this on pinterest the other day. Little did I know Blake and my mom had already done it. So precious!

Just gave little munchkin a bath and in the process of putting him to bed. We're watching that man walk across Niagra Falls on a wire. Scary!

Today was such a nice day. It even ended with thunder storms. Which I'm glad because it is sooooo hot here! Yuck!

Gym time and then bed!

50th Birthdays!

Today was my moms 50th Birthday! And this is what she woke up to!

50 balloons on her floor when she got home from work. She text me and said You're cleaning this mess up! Haha!

This past year has been rough for her so I wanted to make it special. She had been talking about wanting a new camera for a long time so that's what I got her! She also mentioned the other day she wanted Chinese. Not just any Chinese though...a certain Chinese Restaurant that has coconut chicken, which happens to be about a 30 minute drive. I talked to my brother and his wife and had them meet us there with out letting her know. I'm good! She had no clue where we were even going. And from the earlier activities she was kinda scared to go! lol

I got her one of those pointy hats that said 'Over The Hill' and of course she wouldn't wear it. My 4 year old nephew did though. And speaking of him...I embarrassed her enough by bringing a balloon that said 50...so when it came time to cut her cake she didn't want us to sing Happy Birthday to her in the restaurant so we lit the candles and she blew them out in a hurry. He was soooo mad! He said 'Nana we didn't sing you happy birthday!'. So we lit them again and said the first 2 lines super fast and she blew them out. That didn't satisfy him so he sat there pouting and wouldn't eat his cake. Funniest thing ever!  And then he sat in his parents car and yelling my name and crying because he wanted to go home with me with out his parents there. Love him!

My little boy earlier today. He puts his hands in fists and rubs his eyes when he's tired. It's adorable! He also tries holding his bottle now and when he see's me shaking it up he kicks his legs and gets excited and even puckers his mouth waiting for it!

We had to stop at Target on the way home and he was so sleepy he was doing his baby talk really loud except it was almost like a yawn and he held it as long as he could. Imagine passing a baby at a store that's going Ahhhhhhh! for like 10 seconds. He did it like 5 times and the older women women we passed said he sure has some good lungs!

He just gets cuter every day!

Losing weight...

You can follow along on my In Shape tab but I am down 4.2 pounds so far! Not to bad for just 2 weeks and doing it on my own. I never worked out when I was younger so getting use to doing it has been an adjustment. The last few days I've been riding the stationary bike. Hurts my butt but it works!

And I think we decided to switch our 'weigh in'days to Saturday.

My dads birthday is tomorrow, my moms is Thursday and mine is Friday! Crazy right?! So I may have to eat a piece of cake some where in there.

A McMuffin my way!

According to MFP a sausage, egg and cheese McMuffin is 450 calories...just for one. Yikes!

This morning I made my own for less than 300 calories.

I used a Thomas High Fiber English Muffin - 100 calories, 1 Egg(baked in the oven in a cupcake pan) - 70 calories, Tennessee Pride Turkey Sausage - 50 calories, Half a Slice of Velveeta Cheese - 30 calories, Half a triangle of Laughing Cow Cream Cheese - 23 calories and a dash of salt and pepper for a total of  273 Calories! Way better than the 450 fatty calories! Of course you could do without both types of cheese I used but I like some flavor.

And I added 1 cup of Minute Maid Light 1/2 Calorie Orange Juice - 50 calories.

Total Breakfast was 323 calories. Yes please!

Who needs Taco Bell anyway!

I love me some tacos! As I was at the store standing in the Hispanic Food aisle I started looking at the calories on everything. I found these....
60 calories per shell!

Not everyone is a fan of beans but I happen to love them! When I did go to taco bell I always ordered a bean burrito. So I bought a can of these...

90 calories per half a cup

And this is what I created...
I added lettuce, a sprinkle of cheese( 40 calories), onion( 4 calories), jalapenos( 1 calorie), 2 tbsp red sauce( 10 calories) and 2 tbsp fat free sour cream( 25 calories).

A meal for a total of 230 calories! And it is soooo good!

Even if you have 2 of them it still isn't that many calories on a 1200 calorie diet. Especially since I only eat about 200 calories for breakfast. So that leaves me the most calories for dinner which is usually when I'm the hungriest!

I usually drink plain water or add a packet of the Crystal Light Raspberry Lemonade which is only 10 calories!

Blake has been counting calories also and has lost 3 pounds in 2 days! Go us!

30 Day/300 Ab Challenge

Life After I

I started the challenge a week ago. The first day I about died! I hurt for the next 4 days! My abs weren't that sore but I could barely lift my legs to get in the shower the following morning! Sad to say I didn't stick with it. I've done it a few other times since Day 1 but not every day.

I've already lost 2.5 pounds last week. I just got back from the grocery store and got nothing but healthy food and I'm restarting the challenge tonight! I took before pictures but I will spare myself until I finish or see progress.

Post baby belly is no fun!

To be continued....

Weight loss and Levi

I completely fell off the band wagon on eating healthy and exercising. Blake has been talking about getting out of the army for awhile now but he decided to make it his career and go active duty. He has until February to get back in shape to do this! So for me to support him in doing this I have to also me committed to losing weight.

On Memorial Day something clicked in my head and I just thought Okay, I can do this! So for the past week I have counted calories every single day. According to my fitness pal I can have 1200 a day. Doesn't seem like a lot but after a few days it got easy. And counting calories isn't as annoying as it was in the beginning.

The only time I went over was Friday night when we had a "cheat" dinner. Which we got Papa Murphey's Pepperoni DeLite Pizza. It's suppose to be lower in calories because the crust is super thing and there isn't as much toppings. It was soooo good! I had an extra piece which is what sent me over. :(

I also started and ab challenge that I found on another blog. It's also all over pinterest. It's the same as the Ab Ripper on P90X. You're suppose to do it every day for 30 days to see the results. I did before pictures which I will share if I finish. But the first day I about died! I don't think I have worked my ab muscles that hard EVER! I hurt so bad for the next 3 days! I've done it every other day since but starting today I plan to do it every day and just restart the 30 days. Esp since I got over that first work out. Holy cow!

From eating better and counting calories and doing the ab challenge I have lost 2.5 pounds in a week! It's not biggest loser good but anything is better than nothing!

I don't drink cokes a whole lot so cutting those out isn't hard. I sometimes drink coffee in the morning because a cup is only 20 calories and it helps me not get a caffeine headache which sucks majorly! Also if I don't have coffee in the morning I will get an unsweet tea because it has zero calories but still has the caffeine.

I am watching what I eat but I'm not depriving myself of something if I want it. I just have to fit the calories into my day. Like sweets for example. I love chocolate! But I've also checked the calories and on every package it has a lot! So.....I found these...
120 calories a pack and they are soooo good! They also have other chocolates and a ton of ice creams!
I know chocolate isn't good for you but if you're just counting calories this is doable!

Plus if you plug your food into myfitnesspal.com like I do it is easier to keep track of. If you work out that day you can also plug in your exercise and it tells you how many calories you burned so essentially you have 'extra' calories! I don't eat the 'extra' since I'm trying to lose as much weight as I can.

I'm pretty confident that I'm sticking with this to reach my goal.. I don't have a set amount that I want to lose I just need to lose the baby weight and the yuckiness that I hate around my middle. I wish I could figure out how to lose the muscle on my arms so they didn't look so big. Years of being a nurses aide and lifting people every day will do that to ya!

That's all for now...Tonight I plan on making a new recipe that I actually found through weight watchers. It's an inside out eggroll. It looks so good! Recipe tomorrow!

And I must say I have the best little boy in the world! 3 nights in a row he was fussy but it was because he was constipated. Which thank god for gas drops and prune juice, that problem is fixed! All day yesterday when he was tired he just fell asleep on his own and he still sleeps through the night! He's getting so big I don't even call him a baby anymore :( He's a little man already!

He loves being outside! Last night we went to the pool and he loved it. Even though it was a little chilly.
I love the age he is now. He's so cute and loves looking at everything. Especially ceiling fans! He's never fussy unless he has gas or gets hungry. If ever baby was this easy and I didn't have my cervix problems I would have a ton!

I can't wait until he walks and talks! But I wish I could freeze him so he doesn't get any older than that!
He's such a happy baby!

He knows what his bottle is and gets excited when he see's it. And now he tries holding it. So cute!
